All employers are responsible for
ensuring employee health and safety under VOSHA/OSHA standards and businesses with more
than 10 employees must post an OSHA 200 Log for work related injuries and illnesses
(avail. From VOSHA @ 800-464-4343) with monthly log summary posted and must maintain
training records (which is advisable for all businesses). Some of the OSHA required

Trainings Which May Be Required:
(Companies with 10 employees
must maintain training records, which is advisable for all businesses, annual trainings in
bold):
1. Building Evacuation &
Alarms (can include in Hazard Communication)
2. Hazard Communication & access to employee medical and exposure records
& MSDS's (for new
employees and if new hazard is added)
3. If you generate hazardous wastes and do your own emergency spill
response, then HAZWOPPER (Hazardous Waste Operations) training is required.- If you
have an Emergency Coordinator and/or Response Team, then they need this annually). Small
chemical spills can be covered in your Emergency Action Plan
4. Lockout/Tagout- Annual program review if applicable
5. Confined Space- Annual program review (+ annual training if entering
confined spaces)
6. Forklift - all new!
7. First Aid- Red Cross (CPR), 1st Aid = bi-annual (> 4 min. 1st
Response time)
8. Cranes
9. Portable power tools
10. Spray booths inspection
11. Welding (NFPA/OSHA)
12. Portable fire extinguishers (representatives from each shift need training)
13. Sprinkler systems inspections (weekly, if self-inspected)
14. Some electrical Safety training for plant maintenance personnel
