In 2021 you alone will not be in control of how your business operates. At any moment one of two events can force you to change direction.
- The Governor issues a new mandate on COVID-19 required behaviors.
- There is a COVID-19 incident. If either you, a staff member or a customer receives a positive diagnosis or is contacted because you/they have been in contact with a person with COVID-19.
When either of the above happen you must immediately stop and respond. And although we always advise a pause before you make business decisions in this case you do need to do things with the appropriate speed (especially in the case of a COVID-19 incident).
Understanding there will be no time to do a complete Roadmap we have created the CRUCIAL CHANGE Flow Chart for your use.

Here is a quick look at the steps of the CRUCIAL CHANGE FLOW CHART in order:
FOR A COVID-19 INCIDENT: If either you, a staff member or a customer receives a positive diagnosis or is contacted because you/they have been in contact with a person with COVID-19.
Step 1: You must immediately call the VT Department of Health and follow their instructions.
Step 2: Be in contact with your insurance agent about the incident.
Now proceed to the left side of the Flow Chart and follow the steps below.
FOR A NEW MANDATE from the GOVERNOR:
Step 1: Review your existing projections, current Profit and Loss (P&L), plus your 13 week Cash Flow to assess your current situation.
Step 2: Make a decision about future operation (from stay open or re-open to not re-opening or making a decision to transition to other ownership).
Step 3: If you decide to stay open under reduced operation or re-open after quarantine because of a COVID-19 incident then RE-DO the projections and the 13 week cash flow with new data.
Step 4: Create a new Staffing and Operational Plan.
Step 5: Create a new Safety and Messaging Plan using the Safety Protocol Worksheet and the Messaging Worksheet.
