RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. (Mar. 21, 2022) – The 14th annual Student Business/Entrepreneurship Competitions are now open for submissions. Hosted by Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC), Vermont Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning (VT REAL), and Vermont Business Education Corporation (VBEC), all Vermont high school and career-tech center students are invited to enter Business Model Canvas plans or business video pitch plans of a product or service. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top entries.

“We invite students to participate as individuals or in teams of two to four students,” said Laurel Butler, VtSBDC Business Advisor-Startup and Student Entrepreneur Specialist. “The idea for products and/or services may be of the students’ own choice.”

Butler explains that in developing the business model canvas or the video pitch, students should consider creativity, social responsibility, likelihood of success of the enterprise, and the quality of their presentation.

Submissions are due on May 2, 2022, and judging will take place from May 3 through May 13. Winners will be announced in mid-May.

“We are excited to see this year’s entries,” concluded Butler. “In the 14 years since we have facilitated this program, the submissions from Vermont’s innovative students continue to get better and better, a sign of a bright future ahead for our next generation.”
