Vermont Small Business Development Center announces State Star

Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC) State Director Linda Rossi this week announced Assistant Director Heather M. Gonyaw as VtSBDC’s 2018 Vermont State Star.

Gonyaw joined the VtSBDC team in 2002 and has held several positions during that time. She currently serves as the assistant director of grants and finance. Gonyaw’s main focus is financial and grants management, process and operational management of the organization, and conference planning and logistics.

“Heather is a vital member of the VtSBDC team, ensuring that our organization maintains the critical operations needed to be successful, including accurate and timely grant reporting to our federal and state funding sources,” Rossi said. “I’m delighted that she is being recognized this year for her many contributions!”

Gonyaw holds an Associate of Applied Science in Accounting degree from Vermont Technical College and a Master of Business Administration degree focused on leadership from Norwich University. She is an active member of her community, serving as chair of her local school district board, as well as a member of the supervisory union board.  Gonyaw is also a certified TurboKick instructor.

“It feels great to be recognized by your colleagues for your skills and contributions to the SBDC program,” Gonyaw said. “I have been with VtSBDC for over 15 years, and I am fortunate to work with this amazing group of people who are committed to the success of Vermont businesses.”

Gonyaw will be recognized at the 38th Annual America’s SBDC conference in Washington, DC in September. America’s Small Business Development Center Network is a partnership uniting private enterprise, government, higher education, and local nonprofit economic development organizations.
